SIKESTON - Sikeston High School basketball player Lawrence Davis signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play for Missouri Baptist.

Davis, who started every game in his final two years with the Bulldogs, averaged six points, four rebounds and three assists per game for Sikeston's 13-13 team this past season.

He was also one of the top defenders on the team.

"Lawrence is a very good worker," said Sikeston head coach Gregg Holifield. "He's a team guy and he'll fit into a team-oriented system. He's a very good defensive player and he's very unselfish. I think he'll do very well there."

Holifield said Davis, who is an adept ball-handler in addition to his defensive skills, will project as a two-guard in college.

"He's a good defensive player and he's an unselfish player," said . He's such a good citizen and more than anything else he's a really good person. Academically he's very strong. It's a good school. It's located in West County in St. Louis. Academically it's an outstanding school and I know Lawrence will fit in well there."
