JERSEYVILLE, Ill. -- Earl Cordell Hix, 85, died Nov. 26, 2007, at the Willow Rose Rehab and Healthcare in Jerseyville.
Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Drumright, Okla., to the late Oliver and Annie McAlpin Hix, he lived most of his life in Michigan and moved to Godfrey in 2004. A mechanical engineer, he retired from Chrysler Motors after 46 years. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM and a 25-year member of the American Legion in Trenton. A U.S. Marine Corp veteran, he had served in World War II and Korea.
On March 1, 1969, in Detroit, he married Norma Glenn.
Survivors in addition to his wife include: one stepson, Ronnie Wilhelm of Brighton; one stepdaughter, Kathleen Castillo of Godfrey; one sister, Gioradyne Comer of Bowling Green, Ky.; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Mo., where Masonic Rites will be held at 12:45 p.m. followed by services at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Doublin of Puxico will officiate.
Entombment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 59 of Dexter.
