Jackie Smith

CHARLESTON - Willie D. "Jackie" Smith, 83, died at 10:09 p.m. May 19, 2004, at her home.

Born March 7, 1921, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Daniel T. and Frances A. Dover, she lived in Charleston most of her life, where she was a member of the Church of Christ.

On Jan. 3, 1946, she married James Wesley Smith who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1994.

Survivors include: two sons, James Smith and Garry Smith of Charleston; two daughters, Ruby Ann Shanks of Sikeston and Judy Whitehead of Charleston; five grandchildren, Lorie Ann Campbell, Charles Eric Shanks, Joseph William Shanks, Spencer Whitehead and Abby Whitehead; and six great-grandchildren.

One brother, Thomas Herrington, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. Daniel Bell, minister of the Church of Christ in Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Spencer Whitehead, Joseph Shanks, Charles Eric Shanks, Adam Campbell, Keith Campbell, Mike Palmer and Kolebe James Shanks.
