SIKESTON - Old Lady Luck and White, the Puxico center, teamed up last night to defeat the Sikeston Bulldogs 45-37 in a semifinal game in the regional tournament at Dexter before an overflow crowd.


SIKESTON - Today the Malone Theatre will present "Brute Force" with Burt Lancaster and Charles Bickford.

SIKESTON - An ordinance calling for a vote to annex 220 acres of property to the city in conjunction with the April 2 election of three city councilmen was adopted last night by the City Council.

SIKESTON - A plaque was presented and hung in the Cobalt therapy room at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston Wednesday. The plaque reads, "Beautification donated by Missouri Delta Medical Center Auxiliary, 1987." The auxiliary turned the drab surroundings into a more pleasurable atmosphere with the addition of a dressing table and chair and nature scene mural.

NEW MADRID - Officials with Noranda Aluminum Inc.'s New Madrid Reduction Plant announced a $64 million in expansion and improvements Tuesday. The single piece "Anode and Baking Furnace Fume Treatment Project" will allow Noranda to realize increased aluminum production by 70 million pounds annually while decreasing emissions from its oldest anode baking furnace. Glen Medlin is the major projects manager.


SIKESTON - Charles Meeks Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meeks of Sikeston, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of master sergeant at Hurlbert Field Air Force Base, Florida. A 1981 graduate of Sikeston High School, he joined the Air Force in November 1981. He is currently awaiting transfer to Korea, where he will serve for the next year. He is the father of Charles Nolan Meeks of Sikeston.
