CAPE GIRARDEAU - Bennie Joe Morrison, 80, formerly of Charleston and Sikeston, died July 22, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 17, 1926, in Sikeston, son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna Virgin Gipson Springs Morrison, he was a 1944 Sikeston High School graduate. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during World War II. A former deacon of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, he was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and a member of the Thunderbirds Square Dance Club. He had been a sales representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the Keebler Company and the Conwood Corporation before retiring.

On June 12, 1945, in Sikeston, he married Glenda Marie Keller, who survives of the home in Cape Girardeau.

Other survivors include: three daughters and one son-in-law, Melinda Hilterbrand, Margaret Baber and Marsha and Matthew Elfrink all of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Myron O. Morrison of Ava, Ill.; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

One sister, Dortha Kay Morrison preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Gary Belcher of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau will officiate, assisted by Dr. Rick Ramsey, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
