DRY PRONG, La. - Mackie "Randy" Gromer, 52, formerly of Dexter, Mo., died July 21, 2006, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. Born Sept. 8, 1953, in Dexter, son of Myrtle Ritchie Gromer of Dexter and the late Howard E. Gromer, he had lived in Dexter, Jackson, Miss. and Tampa, Fla. before moving to Dry Prong four years ago. A graduate of Richland High School, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the United States Army...

DRY PRONG, La. - Mackie "Randy" Gromer, 52, formerly of Dexter, Mo., died July 21, 2006, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Born Sept. 8, 1953, in Dexter, son of Myrtle Ritchie Gromer of Dexter and the late Howard E. Gromer, he had lived in Dexter, Jackson, Miss. and Tampa, Fla. before moving to Dry Prong four years ago. A graduate of Richland High School, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one son, Damian Joseph Gromer of the state of Mississippi, one brother, Bill H. Gromer of Van Buren, Mo.; three sisters, Betty J. Lewis of Campbell, Mo., Cathy R. Nugent of Montgomery, La. and Lisa D. Deirie of Dry Prong; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Shawn Mangus.

Visitation is from 2 until time of services at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. Chris Dixon of Corning, Ark. and the Rev. Jack Lewis of Campbell will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
