CHAFFEE - Virginia Jordan McConnell, 77, died at 10:10 a.m. March 3, 2008, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
Born March 5, 1930, at Trumann, Ark., to the late Alvin Eric and Opal Garnet Kitterman Jordan, she was a secretary at Chaffee Grade School for many years. She had worked for Chaffee Head Start for many years before retiring and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee.
On Sept. 9, 1949, she married Elva Estes McConnell Jr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald McConnell of Altamonte Springs, Fla. and David and Denise McConnell of Gainesville, Ga.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Augie Urhahn of Scott City, Susan and Jim Puckett of Jackson and Francis and Ed Dooley of Chaffee; three brothers, Don Jordan of Memphis, Tenn., Gene Jordan of Kansas City and Robert Jordan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Chaffee with Dr. Brian Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
