Charleston -- The Charleston Bluejays ended the regular season on a high note Thursday night, by defeating the Caruthersville Tigers by a score of 32-12.

"We played the first half fairly decent," Charleston head coach Dan Kesselring said. "(Chase) McClendon had a big night running the ball. (Jerquawn) Sherrell and (Marquez) Ware also had big games."

The win was big heading into the playoffs, as McClendon, Sherrell, Ware and Mike Spence all got in on the scoring action, which will be a confidence booster heading into Wednesday's sectional match-up with Crystal City.

"We played good," Kesselring added. "Aside from letting their quarterback get loose for a couple of scores we played good defensively. We also had a few too many penalties."

Kesselring went on to say that his players are geared up for Wednesday's playoff game and that the team that plays smarter will be the one that comes out on top.

Charleston (4-6) will host the sectional game against the Crystal City Hornets, Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
