CANALOU - John David Spencer Sr., 50, died at 10:24 am. Dec. 3, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. CANALOU - John David Spencer Sr., 50, died at 10:24 am. Dec. 3, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 17, 1955, in Sikeston, son the late Harvey Steve and Ruby Helmes Spencer of Matthews, he was a farm worker for John Westcoat Farms, a member of the Canalou Assembly of God Church and a member of the Jus'Kin folk gospel singing group.

On Dec. 23, 1980, in Canalou, he married Barbara Pierce who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John David and Heather Spencer II of Oakland City, Ind.; one daughter, Elisabeth Spencer of the home; two brothers, Harvey S. Spencer Jr. of Canalou and Curtis A. Spencer of Sikeston; and two sisters, Linda Spencer Roberts of Jackson and Marlene Spencer Davidson of Matthews.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mike Cartwright, pastor of Canalou Assembly of God Church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Ron Tate of the Sikeston First Assembly of God Church.

Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery.
