EAST PRAIRIE - John Arthur Clubbs, 65, died at 11 a.m. May 23, 2006, in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston. EAST PRAIRIE - John Arthur Clubbs, 65, died at 11 a.m. May 23, 2006, in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston.

Born June 29, 1940, in Dunklin County to the late Arthur and Virginia Williford Clubbs, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was a member of the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served 17 years during the Vietnam War.

On June 23, 1961, he married Doris McFarland, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2001. On Jan. 4, 2003, at East Prairie, he married Norma Jean Walker, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two stepsons, Alvin Smith of East Prairie and Thomas Sterling of Madison, Ohio; four stepdaughters, Karen Taylor of Mason, Tenn., Sandra Clubbs of Whiting and Laura Wheatley and Betty Grisso of East Prairie; one brother, Phillip Clubbs of Whiting; one sister, Barbara Jackson of St. Louis; one adopted brother, Darrell Clubs of Fredericktown; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Charles Clubbs and Dewey Clubbs; and one sister, Carolyn Boles preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. Buddy Hannah and Richard Farquhar will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Clarkton.

Pallbearers will be: Lee Shands, James Smith, Frank Cohen, Terry Green, Danny Wheatley, Keith Grisso, Dallas Butler and James Alvey.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Bud Morgan, Charles Moore and David Dowdy.
