SIKESTON - Oren Kenneth Whiteside, 85, died at 1:30 a.m. July 5, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. SIKESTON - Oren Kenneth Whiteside, 85, died at 1:30 a.m. July 5, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born June 3, 1921, in McClure, Ill., son of the late Cecil Orville and Belva Bradley Whiteside, he was a self-employed auto body repairman. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II, and a member of First General Baptist Church in Scott City and the American Legion Henry Meldrum Post.

On Dec. 26, 1942, in Benton, he was united in marriage to Virginia Couch, who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2004.

One infant daughter, Joan Kathleen Whiteside; four brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon Kay Whiteside of the home; one brother, Charles Edward Whiteside of Westminster, Calif.; and two sisters, Belva Ruth Hice of London, Ark. and Hattie Emma McCoy of Sikeston.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel at Sikeston where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Larry Rouse, pastor of the First General Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
