CHARLESTON -- Clem Gillespie, 88, died Feb. 17, 2008, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born May 26, 1919, in Lynchburg, Miss., to the late Robert and Fannie Gillespie, he was employed as a crop planter and irrigation systems mechanic in Plainview, Texas. After his retirement, he moved back to Mississippi County.
He was married to Zella Mae Love who preceded him in death. He later married Alberta Kellum who also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: four sons, Samuel Allen Gillespie of Dayton, Ohio, Dorie Gillespie of Fort Wayne, Ind., Corniece Gillespie of Jonesboro, Ark., and Rodney Gillespie of Cook, Ill.; three stepchildren, Halbert Harris, Ethel Harris and Glenda Morgan; and one sister, Gladys Clark of Centerville, Ill.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at noon Saturday at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
