CAPE GIRARDEAU - A Sikeston man was sentenced to prison on federal drug charges.

Michael S. Sheron, 32, was sentenced to 97 months imprisonment on one felony count of distribution of cocaine base Monday before U.S. District Judge Jean C. Hamilton. Upon release from prison, he will be placed on supervised release for a period of four years.

Previously with his pleas, Sheron admitted that on or about July 25, 2005, he gave a confidential informant 16.3 grams of cocaine base in exchange for $450 after weighing it on a set of scales in the informant's presence. After the informant observed the weight was acceptable, he paid Sheron.
