SIKESTON - Eula Burns received Woman of the Year award from Louis Wiggins, president of the Missourians Men Club Wednesday night.

BLOOMFIELD - Hanging on the wall in the front office of the Stoddard County Clerk is a sign reading, " County Court Memo Budget Crunch. Use it up; Wear it out; Make it do; Do with out." According to Don White, county clerk, the new budget was put together knowing it did not meet everyone's needs but doing "the best we could with what we had to work with."

JEFFERSON CITY - State Treasurer Wendell Bailey announced last week that 27 rural Missouri leaders have agreed to serve on the Treasurer's Rural Missouri Advisory Council. Kathie Simpkins, city administrator at East Prairie and James A. Atchison, president of the Bank of Hayti, are the area representatives who will serve on the council.

SIKESTON - Jeff Partridge and the board of directors at the YMCA of Southeast Missouri hope to add 75 additional family memberships which cost $24 per month or $288 annually, and some 100 adult memberships, which cost $16 per month or $192 annually.

EAST PRAIRIE - James Mayabb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayabb of East Prairie, has been accepted as a member of the 1998 Spirit of America National Honor Band for its 21st annual performing tour of Europe.
