PUXICO -- Oscar R. Pate, 82, died Feb. 15, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 8, 1925, in Kansas City, son of the late Oscar J. and Frances Riley Pate, he had lived for the last 17 years in Puxico where he was a member of the Puxico General Baptist Church. He was Sunday School teacher for many years and a former deacon at the Trinity General Baptist Church in Dupo, Ill., and Cahokia General Baptist Church in Cahokia, Ill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II.
On Sept. 23, 1947, in Dupo, he married Vivian Wilfong.
Survivors include: three sons, Bill Pate of Jackson, Jimmy Ray Ragsdale of Branson and Ronnie Paul Ragsdale of Willis, Texas; one daughter, Donna Garcia of Wood River, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Gable.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Kenneth Lamber of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico.
