SIKESTON -- Lyndell C. "Jim" Young, 81, died Jan. 20, 2007, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Dexter. Born Aug. 18, 1925, at Gray Ridge, son of the late Wilmer and Stella Smith Young, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an auto mechanic and had worked for several auto dealerships in Clearwater, Fla., for 12 years. He had also worked as an auto mechanic in Sikeston for 17 years for Dale White Auto Sales and Midtown Motors...

SIKESTON -- Lyndell C. "Jim" Young, 81, died Jan. 20, 2007, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Dexter.

Born Aug. 18, 1925, at Gray Ridge, son of the late Wilmer and Stella Smith Young, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an auto mechanic and had worked for several auto dealerships in Clearwater, Fla., for 12 years. He had also worked as an auto mechanic in Sikeston for 17 years for Dale White Auto Sales and Midtown Motors.

On Aug. 15, 1949, in St. Louis, he married Inas Lavelle O'Neal who preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 2004.

One brother, Dugan Young, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two nieces, Carolyn Corlew of Essex and Marilyn Jiles of Gray Ridge. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

A committal service will be held at 2:30 pm. Sunday at Dexter City Cemetery.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
