BROSELEY -- Delois Slavings, 67, formerly of Bernie and Malden, died Jan. 23, 2007, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1939, in Bernie, daughter of the late John Melvin Crump and Clara Glass Crump, she had lived in Broseley since 1972 and attended Little Vine General Baptist Church near Fisk.

On March 15, 1968, in Big Rock, Ill., she married Ralph Sterling Slavings who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2006.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruth Crump; two brothers, James Clayton and Orville Crump; and one sister, Mable Thompson.

Survivors include: four sons, Kelly Slavings and Mike Slavings of Malden, Earl Slavings of Denver and Joe Slavings of Beaver Dam, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and David Cobb and Clara Alvina and Lin Wright all of Broseley; and Betty and Doug McDonald of Festus; and 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is after 11 a.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter. The Rev. Fred Applegate of Broseley will officiate.
