SIKESTON -- An Oran woman was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau by the Air Evac Lifeteam for moderate injuries after a single-vehicle accident Tuesday.
The accident happened at about 11:18 a.m. on Highway 61 at Calvary Street, according to Capt. John Martin of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
The driver was identified as Rose Harris, 72.
Martin said a witness stated the vehicle was southbound on Highway 61 when it crossed the centerline into the northbound lane, continued to the east side of the roadway where it left the roadway, crossed over a private driveway, traveled through a small ditch and struck a small tree before coming to a stop.
Harris, who was extricated from the vehicle, was incapacitated and unable to give a statement in reference to how the accident occurred, according to Martin.
