ORAN -- The Oran Lady Eagles fell to 8-8 on the season Thursday night, as the Naylor Lady Eagles flew through town and took a win, 74-40. Ranked No. 7 in Class 2, Naylor improved its record to 15-2.

University of Missouri-St. Louis signee Hailee Deckard had a huge night for Naylor, as she put up 31 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Moriah Goodrum added 13 points and four rebounds in the win.

The game started out in favor of the Naylor Lady Eagles, as they won the tip, followed by a quick Deckard basket. Naylor started the game with a 6-0 run before freshman Cheyenne King put Oran on the board, en route to all of Oran's eight first quarter points.

Oran trailed after one quarter, 17-8.

The second quarter was a carbon-copy of the first, as Deckard led in scoring, finishing with a total of 20 points before the break.

The halftime deficit for the home-team Lady Eagles was 18 points, 38-20.

"I felt like the girls came out ready to play," Naylor head coach Stephana Deckard said. "I felt like it was a total team effort. I feel like we learn something every game to help us approach the next game and the end of our season better."

Coach Deckard added that a lot of things worked for the team Thursday night.

In the second half, the long-distance shooting was working, as Carissa Bridges came out with two 3-pointers in the third quarter for Naylor, alongside teammates Holly Deckard and Brooke Baccus who each hit one 3-

pointer apiece. The visiting Lady Eagles built their lead to 34 points by the beginning of the fourth quarter, 65-31.

Oran could come up with no answer for the quick Naylor offense, as the home-team Lady Eagles fell 74-40.

For Oran, King had a solid game in the low-post, as she scored 16 points and recorded three rebounds. Callie Kielhofner, Ellen Sikes and Kirstie Mangles each added five points apiece in the loss.

"Naylor is a good team and the (Hailee) Deckard girl is a good player," Oran head coach Adam Friga said. "We didn't play bad tonight, but we didn't shoot the ball well. We got good shots, but we just didn't make them."

"With a team of that caliber you have to do everything top-notch," he added. "We didn't turn the ball over much, but you can't afford to make many mistakes. They have a lot of weapons out there."

Despite the loss, Friga remains hopeful about the upcoming districts, set for the end of February. Oran heads into next week's regular season games with a lot on their plate, as the begin with Chaffee at home on Monday, followed by Sikeston on the road Wednesday and Charleston at home on Thursday.

"We're excited about the Chaffee game," said Friga. "They got us in the Delta tournament, so we're looking forward to getting to play them again. That will be a good opportunity for us."

Oran and Chaffee will square-off Monday at Oran, with junior varsity action beginning at 6 p.m., with varsity play to follow.
