CHARLESTON - Eddie Kitchen, 92, died Aug. 23, 2006, at his home in Charleston.

Born July 12, 1914, in Batesville, Ark., to the late Ulysses and Ethel Kitchen, he was a resident of Missouri for over 64 years. A retired construction worker, he was a veteran of World War II receiving an honorable discharge.

In 1947, he married Gerald Dorothy Knox, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, four sisters, one brother and one grandson.

Survivors include: one son, Rodney Kitchen of Columbia; two daughters, Lynnette L. Kitchen of Columbia and Katrina Mims of Charleston; two brothers, Joe Hartford and John Kitchen of the state of Connecticut; one sister, Hannah Sennie of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until time for services at noon at the Perry Chapel AME Church in Charleston. The Rev. Victor Williams will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with full military rites.

Williams Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
