SIKESTON -- James "Brother" Nabors Jr., 71, formerly of Chicago, died Aug. 24, 2006, in Chicago, of an apparent heart attack.
Born Aug. 12, 1935, in Hughes, Ark., son of the late James Leroy and Gracie Moccasin Nabors, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: two sons, Kevin Jamal Nabors and Paul Smith of Chicago; two daughters, Shirane Inez Elliot and Tamika Duboris of the state of Illinois; eight brothers and four sisters-in-law, Rev. Roy and Betty Nabors, Rev. Benjamin and Tania Nabors, David and Yolanda Nabors and Tommy Nabors of Milwaukee, Calvin and Brenda Nabors of Durham, N.C., and Lee Earl Nabors, Lynn Nabors and Rev. L.J. Nabors of Sikeston; six sisters and two brothers-
in-law, Florida Nabors and Joyce McKinney of Sikeston, Letha Foster of Alton, Ill., Clarinda and James Palmer of Baton Rouge, La., Tina and Joe Burnett of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Linda Nabors of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren; and his fiance, Linda Watson.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at noon Friday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Herman Gardner will officiate.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
