SALCEDO -- Emery Abbott, 94, died Feb. 1, 2008, at his home near Salcedo. Born Oct. 9, 1913, in Blodgett, to the late Frank and Cora Goins Abbott, he had lived south of Grayridge before moving to Advance where he lived from 1970 to 1974. He then moved near Salcedo. He had worked as a farmer and was of the Baptist belief...

SALCEDO -- Emery Abbott, 94, died Feb. 1, 2008, at his home near Salcedo.

Born Oct. 9, 1913, in Blodgett, to the late Frank and Cora Goins Abbott, he had lived south of Grayridge before moving to Advance where he lived from 1970 to 1974. He then moved near Salcedo. He had worked as a farmer and was of the Baptist belief.

On Jan. 23, 1939, in Grayridge, he married Flossie Byrd who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Eugene Abbott of Morehouse and Larry Abbott of Sikeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Bess of Advance and Barbara and Reginal Day of Jay, Okla.; and eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Harry Lee Abbott; two daughters, Phillis Ann Abbott and Fay Sue Abbott; two brothers, James Abbott and Chester Abbott; one sister, Francis Elfrink; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Revs. W.H. Worth of Essex and Mike Abbott of Aquilla will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
