FREDERICKTOWN -- The Sikeston girls soccer team improved to 13-9-1 in the regular season finale against Fredericktown, winning 5-4 in overtime.
Sikeston led 4-1 only to see Fredericktown rally to tie the score and send the contest into overtime.
Sikeston's Jordi Ferrell kicked in the winning goal on a free kick at the 83:00 mark.
"We were trying to get some people playing time but Fredericktown kept fighting and they got back in the game," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "They got the momentum on us and we went into overtime. We never play well when we go to Fredericktown for some reason. But we persevered and got that last goal."
Sikeston took a 1-0 lead on Abbi Keefer's goal on an assist from Caitlin Underwood. The Lady Bulldogs headed in a shot into their own goal on a corner kick to tie the game at 1-1, which is where things stood at halftime.
Keefer broke the tie with a goal on an assist from Ferrell. Katie DeLaRosa then added a pair of goals to extend the lead to 4-1. Megan Underhill and Keefer provided the assists.
But Fredericktown's Courtney Kemp scored three straight goals, including the tying goal on a penalty kick at the 75:00 mark.
Three minutes into the overtime period Ferrell scored to win the game.
Sikeston's junior varsity lost 2-0 to Fredericktown.
EAST PRAIRIE -- The Oran Eagles improved to 19-4 on the season as Steven Dooley threw a no-hitter against East Prairie on Thursday.
Dooley struck out 12 batters, walked two and hit a batter in seven innings of work. He had a perfect game through 4 2/3 innings.
Dooley worked himself out of a bases loaded jam with nobody out in the seventh inning to preserve the shutout and the no-hitter.
Oran had 12 hits led by Dooley, who went 4-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Others were Caleb Seyer (1-2), Tyler Beardslee (2-4, RBI), Chase Seyer (1-3), Chris Asmus (2-4, double, RBI), Jake Carter (1-4) and Cody Dirnberger (1-4).
Oran will play at North Pemiscot today at 4:30 p.m.
