Dorothy Stokes

PRINCEVILLE, Ill. - Dorothy M. Stokes, 88, died at 8:58 a.m. April 3, 2006, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Aug. 2, 1917, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of the late V.L. and Elsie Webb Porter, she was a member of Tower Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She and her husband custom farmed in the Alta area and later, from 1956 to 1965, they operated the A&W Root Beer Stand.

On Oct. 15, 2935, in Matthews, she married Ray M. Stokes who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1993.

Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patsy and Robert Miller of St. Petersburg, Fla., Beverly Noonen of Princeville and Sharon and Tom Bradley of Rockville, Va.; one great-granddaughter, whom she raised, Molly Miller of Princeville; one brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Dorothy Porter of Catron, Mo.; and seven grandchildren and eight great-

grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tower Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Peoria. Terry Blankenship will officiate.

Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home of Princeville is in charge of arrangements.
