Clarence Halter

CHAFFEE - Clarence M. Halter, 89, died at 2 a.m. April 9, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 20, 1917, at New Hamburg, to the late Louis and Mary Miederhoff Halter, he had owned and operated Midwest Dairy, Halter Refrigeration Service and Chaffee Dairy Queen. A Navy veteran serving during World War II, he was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, St. Joseph's Mens Sodality, Father Marquette Knights of Columbus Council No. 11205, Thomas A. Langen Fourth Degree Assembly No. 568 and Chaffee VFW Post No. 3127.

On Oct. 16, 1954, in Chaffee, he married Anna Mae Miller, who preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2004.

Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Mike Halter of Cape Girardeau and Clem Halter of Chaffee; three daughters, Linda Yarbro and Laura Estes of Chaffee and Patty Halter of St. Louis; three sisters, Rita Lux and Rosemary Hendrickson of New Hamburg and Loretta Haupt of Egypt Mills; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. immediately followed by the Knights of Columbus service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Church in New Hamburg. The Revs. Normand Varone and Ralph Duffner will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg.
