SIKESTON -- Margaret Byrd, 87, died at 7:05 p.m. May 10, 2007, at Miner Nursing Center. Born May 30, 1919, in Garza, Texas, daughter of the late Henry H. and Hattie L. Austin Robinson, she was a housewife and taught elementary school at the Chaney School in rural Sikeston, the Matthews school system and Sikeston public school system. SIKESTON -- Margaret Byrd, 87, died at 7:05 p.m. May 10, 2007, at Miner Nursing Center.

Born May 30, 1919, in Garza, Texas, daughter of the late Henry H. and Hattie L. Austin Robinson, she was a housewife and taught elementary school at the Chaney School in rural Sikeston, the Matthews school system and Sikeston public school system. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of God.

On Feb. 21, 1939, in Sikeston, she married Horace E. Byrd, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1985.

One son, Banks Byrd; two brothers; and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, John Byrd and Alan Joe Byrd of Sikeston; three daughters, Ramona Lee Dunn of Perryville, Harriet Ward of St. Charles and Linda Cookman of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Ramona Revheim of Northridge, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
