SIKESTON - J.F. Cox Sr. is recovering at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis after having two pieces of bone removed from his throat.


SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. James Wells of Clinton, Ill., moved Sunday to Sikeston, where they will make their home. Wells is establishing an electrical shop in the Sikeston Airport and it will be located in the building with Parks Grocery.

Jan. 25, 1968

SIKESTON - Several articles are needed for Valentine packages to be mailed by the Junior Chamber of Commerce to 59 Sikeston men serving in Vietnam, according to chairman of the committee Don Menken.


SIKESTON - Openings exist in almost all of the adult education classes offered this semester at the high school. Admissions will be taken through the next week, according to Jim Cornell, vocational education director.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council heard a report from the Department of Public Safety Director Michael Phelan at its weekly briefing sessions today. Specifically addressed was a proposed reorganization of the department.


CHARLESTON - Agenda items in a special session of the City Council Tuesday evening included Falcon Cable TV rate increase, bid openings and a citizen request.

NEW MADRID - KONtek Industries, Inc., 1200 Dawson Road (Highway U) will host an open house Friday so area residents can learn more about what the industry does.

SIKESTON - Karen Reed is the Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center's January Employee of the Month.


SIKESTON - The Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church is doing their part to comfort young children in crisis. The church donated 12 teddy bear care packages to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. The package has a teddy bear, crayons, coloring book and a story book to keep children occupied during an emergency.
