CARUTHERSVILLE - A middle school student, who was repeatedly stabbed by a classmate Wednesday, is reported recovering and in good condition.
The 14-year-old underwent surgery Wednesday at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tenn., for the approximately 20 different wounds he received in the attack at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday on his school bus. His family advised the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office that the teen will be in the hospital at least another week.
The 14-year-old suspect in the attack remains in custody. Sheriff Tommy Greenwell stated in a new release, the Juvenile Court will be petitioned Monday to certify the suspect as an adult for trial in court.
Names of the victim and the suspect were not released. Both are students at South Pemiscot Middle School, located in Steele.
