DEXTER - John W. Ashley, 76, died Feb. 11, 2007, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter.
Born Nov. 23, 1930, in East Prairie, son of the late Claude and Mattie Strong Ashley, he had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life. He lived for over 40 years in Dexter where he was a retired janitor with the Dexter Public Schools and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
On Nov. 15, 1966, in Dexter, he married Pearl Stickles who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary and Missy Ashley of Dexter, Sam and Lydia Ashley of Niangua, John and Rhonda Ashley of Montgomery and Andy Ashley of O'Fallon; one daughter, Debbie Whybark of Matthews; one sister, Luzell Grubbs of Dexter; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Lonnie Mittag and Lloyd Anderson of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in Sadler's Chapel Cemetery near Dexter.
