EAST PRAIRIE -- Carl Double, 78, died at 5:28 p.m. March 9, 2007, at his home. Born Aug. 24, 1928, in Glen Pool, Okla., son of the late John Wade and Dovie Stuart Double, he had lived the past 37 years in Mississippi County. He was a pipe fitter for Local 562 in St. Louis and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War...

EAST PRAIRIE -- Carl Double, 78, died at 5:28 p.m. March 9, 2007, at his home.

Born Aug. 24, 1928, in Glen Pool, Okla., son of the late John Wade and Dovie Stuart Double, he had lived the past 37 years in Mississippi County. He was a pipe fitter for Local 562 in St. Louis and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

On July 7, 1956, he married Margie Smee who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Desiree Double of Plainville, Kan.; one brother, Bill Double of Houston; five grandchildren, Josh Reilly, Jacob Reilly and Paige Reilly of Plainville and Trenton Wade and Travis Lynn Double of Clara City, Minn.; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Cheyenne Double of Clara City.

Graveside services with full military rites provided by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program were conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie was in charge of arrangements.
