O'FALLON -- Hugh H. Klasing, 81, formerly of Charleston, died Feb. 6, 2008, at the Progress West Healthcare at O'Fallon.
Born March 8, 1926, in St. Louis, to the late Henry and Janet McKenzie Klasing, he had lived in St. Louis most of his life where he was employed as the assistant director of the Business and Industrial Development Commission by St. Louis County. He was the former director of the Mississippi County Port Authority, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4290 in Charleston and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
On May 31, 1993, at Charleston, he married Genevieve "Jenny" King who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah "Sally" and Mark Schroer of Shrewsbury; one brother, David Klasing of Greenville, Ill.; and one grandson, Scott Schroer of Shrewsbury.
He was preceded in death by one son, Hugh Scott Klasing, and one brother, Richard Klasing.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today at the Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon where services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Normandy.
