CARUTHERSVILLE - A 62-year-old Steele resident is under investigation for statutory sodomy involving an 8-year-old girl.
J.C. Thomas of Steele was arrested Sunday morning following a report of a sexual assault.
According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, during their investigation deputies determined Thomas had force the 8-year-old to remove her underclothing then performed oral sex. When the youngster attempted to get away from Thomas, she was injured, the sheriff reported.
Thomas, who is charged with first degree statutory sodomy, is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. He is expected to be arraigned today before Judge Byron Luber.
