POPLAR BLUFF - Thirteen people, including one in the Troop E area of Southeast Missouri, died on state highways during the 2006 Labor Day weekend
During the four-day weekend, Troop E officers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). As a result, Troop E officers investigated 31 traffic crashes including the fatality that occurred on Sunday in Dunklin County. Officers made 25 arrests for driving while intoxicated, issued 285 speed citations, 86 seat belt citations, and assisted 171 motorists, according to Capt. G.E. Ridens commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff.
