Sikeston freshmen end season on high note
Eighth graders late rally falls short against Jackson
SIKESTON -- The ninth grade boys basketball team finished the season on a high note with a 60-37 win over Jackson Monday night at the Sikeston Field House.
The game was a rematch of the championship game of the Jackson Tournament Saturday when the Bulldogs came up short 65-62. However, this time it was a different story as Sikeston rolled to the victory.
"We came out and played very well tonight. It was a different story compared to Saturday," said Sikeston head coach Chris Sarakas. "It was our last game of the season and I am very proud of the team. We had a good year."
The Bulldogs were lead by Lomas Johnson with 13 points and one 3-pointer while Darryl Howard and Mike Sherrod each chipped in with 10.
On Saturday, the tables were turned as Jackson rallied past Sikeston late in the fourth quarter.
"It was a good game with each team battling back-and-forth for most of the night," said Sikeston head coach Chris Sarakas. "I was proud of our effort, but in the end we just came up a little bit short."
Sikeston was lead by Darryl Howard with 21 points while Corey Porter got in on the action with 19.
Sikeston finished the season with a final record of 13-4.
