SIKESTON - Seniors Scott Greenlee and Darrell Wasson applied the screws to bowling balls for a physics experiment planned in the 4th Annual Physics Circus this weekend. The pair, in Linda Hodges' Sikeston High School physics Class, prepared "Newton's Cradle," one of more that 40 exhibits in the Sikeston High School event. The circus gets under way 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the high school field house.
SIKESTON - Ahmad Alaadeen and The Deans of Spring, named Best Unsigned Band 1996 by Musician Magazine, will appear at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Banquets Beyond the Bay. The concert is sponsored by the Sikeston, Mo. ARTS Inc., Missouri African-American Cultural Initiative and Daughters of Sunset.

CHARLESTON - Charleston city officials will begin looking for a new city manager with current manager Herb Llewellyn's announcement that he would seek other employment. According to Councilman Larry Smith, the decision was strictly Llewellyn's and the council supported him in his decision. "We will begin seeking applications immediately and Herb has agreed to help us find his replacement," he said.
