DENTON, Texas -- Genevie Black, 84, died Aug. 16, 2008, at her home.
She was born June 26, 1924, in the state of Arkansas, to the late Edith Shelton.
In 1949, in Chicago, she married James Black, who died Dec. 27, 1975.
Also preceding her in death were: one son, James Black Jr., and one brother, Carl Shelton.
Survivors include: four grandsons, James Black III, Terry Black of Denton, Jonathan Black and Jeffrey Black; one brother, Russ Shelton of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Marie Tribble of Portageville; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until time of services at 1 p.m. at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. The Rev. Vernon Purser will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
