MOBERLY - McKinley Kent, 56, formerly of Sikeston, died Aug. 16, 2008 at North Village Park in Moberly.
Born March 29, 1952 in Matthews, to Canera (Kent) Canady of Hattieville, Ark. and the late Eddie G. Barnett, he attended Big Ridge School in Canalou, Morehouse School in Morehouse and graduated from Sikeston High school. He was last employed with Procter and Gamble Corporation in Cape Girardeau. In his later years, he moved to Michigan and resided for a period of time before going back to Missouri.
Survivors in addition to his mother include: a stepfather, Herman Canady of Hattieville; one daughter, Roeslaid Renee McLaurine of Lansing, Mich.; five brothers, Oscar L. Kent of East Lansing, Toney Canady of Plummerville, Ark.; Herman DeWayne Canady of Hattieville Ark.; Steven Canady and Lester Canady of Morrilton, Ark.; and eight sisters, Gloria Rice of Hattieville, Maybelle Drane, Shirley Williams, Frances Walton, Hail Jean Clay and Odie B. Coleman, all of Lansing, Charlotte Roper of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Renee Gibbs of Sikeston.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie G. Barnett, Jr.
Visitation is from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
