BENTON -- A Chaffee woman is in jail on charges of distributing and making methamphetamine.

Shelly Spear, 30, was charged with distribution and manufacturing of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said Wednesday the department received information on suspicious activity which led to the Thanksgiving morning seizure of a methamphetamine lab at the residence. During a search at the residence, deputies located numerous items commonly used in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Spear is currently being held in the Scott County Jail on a $35,000 bond.

Walter commended the work of his deputies and the Chaffee Police Department, who assisted with the investigation.
