SIKESTON -- Marie Anderson has been honored for outstanding leadership of children by Modern Woodmen of America, a national provider of fraternal financial services and programs.
A Modern Woodmen Youth Service Club leader for one year, Anderson led the Sikeston club to merit status in 2008.
Youth service clubs provide Modern Woodmen members ages 16 and younger with opportunities to volunteer, be patriotic, learn new skills, make friends and have fun. Adult Modern Woodmen members lead the clubs and organize activities.
Merit club status is an honor Modern Woodmen awards each year to recognize club leaders for top-level performance. Judging in the merit club contest is based on the quality and the quantity of meetings, programs and community service activities held during the year. Modern Woodmen supports over 700 youth clubs throughout the United States. Only the top leaders nationwide received merit status.
