Demolition began Monday morning at the old Compress building in Sikeston and will continue for about four weeks, according to Kevin Williams of Williams-Dornan Demolition LLC. A number of city officials, including David Ziegenhorn, chairman of the Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority; Community Redevelopment Coordinator Trey Hardy; Anne Quick, administrative assistant for the Department of Public Works; City Councilman Mike Bohannon; and Dan Marshall, LCRA vice-chairman, were on hand to watch the demolition begin.
