Pioneering

Work is under way at the new site for a $55-million dollar Pioneer Hi-Bred commercial and parent soybean seed production facility, just off of Highway 61 north of New Madrid. J.H. Berra Construction Co. Inc of St. Louis has moved in equipment and begun the grading and dirt work for the plant, which will eventually employ some 50 individuals. Above a worker levels an area which will serve as a road into the plant.
