SIKESTON -- In the second to last night of the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, contestants once again battled it out looking to get their share of the prize money.

Starting things off was the bareback riding competition where Jason Havens' score of 87 was good for first place. Coming in second was George Gillespie IV with a 75, followed by Clint Cannon whose 75 was good for third.

In steer wrestling John Franzen narrowly beat out Spud Duval with a time 4.5 seconds compared to Duval's 4.7. Taking third was Chad Taylor at 11.8 seconds.

Cody Martin score of 84 was tops in the saddle bronc competition with Bradley Harter coming in second with a 82 followed by Cody Taton whose score of 80 was good for third.

Friday night's tie down roping event saw only two of the seven contestants post a time as Adam Gray time of 11 seconds beat out Bill Huber for first place with Huber coming in at 17.3 seconds.

In team roping, Jared Standridge and Cody Andrew time of 6.9 seconds was good for first place, while Sikeston native Ty Ferrell and his partner Jeremy Hemmann came away with second at 11.4 seconds.

Barrell racing was once again a closely contested event as Lisa Anderson time of 16.92 seconds beat out Terrah Hanks for first with Hanks' time of 17.10 good for second. With a 17.45 second run, Donna Irvin secured third place.

Though only two of the 14 bull rider's in the night's last event held on for a score, one of those rides was able to knock Seth Glause and his score of 90 from the previous night out of first place for the entire of rodeo.

That honor belonged to Dustin Elliot who posted his score of 93 while riding a bull called Dr. Hou. Friday's lone other survivor was Shane Proctor, whose 76 left him second on the night.
