MARION, Ill. -- The Scott County Central Braves ran into the No. 9 ranked team in the nation according to USA Today in Chicago Simeon out of Chicago, Ill. on Saturday afternoon, losing 76-50 at the Best of the Midwest Shootout at Cuss Wilson Gymnasium in Marion, Ill.
The Wolverines of Chicago Simeon wasted no time jumping on Missouri's Class 1 state champions leading 24-7 after the first quarter. Simeon (3-0) continued to cruise at halftime, 48-22.
Otto Porter led the Braves with 22 points but was held to nine rebounds under Simeon's titanic roster. Dominique Porter scored 10 points for SCC as well.
Darien Walker led Chicago Simeon with 17 points while 6-foot-7 sophomore Jabari Parker added 16 and Steve Tayler, also at 6-7, chipped in with 15.
The Braves (4-2) will be off the entire week until Saturday when they travel to the Eiffel Tower Shootout in Paris, Tenn. where they take on Boliver, Tenn. at 3 p.m.
