Boys Scott-Miss tourney begins tonight at Kelly High School

JACKSON -- The Oran Lady Eagles improved to 9-4 with a 53-37 road win over Saxony Lutheran on Monday night.

Oran's Haley Glastetter led all scorers with 16 points as the Lady Eagles used a 15-6 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Oran's Cheyanne King and Chrissy Sauceda added 12 and 11 points respectively.

Sikeston 73, Dexter 43

DEXTER -- The Sikeston ninth grade basketball team avenged an overtime loss to the Dexter Bearcats last week, with a 73-43 win over the freshman Bearcats on Monday night.

Sikeston doubled up the Bearcats in the first quarter 24-12 and led 35-20 at the half, before putting the game away in the second half.

J.T. Jones led Sikeston (9-2) with 16 points while Jarious Ray added 12. Stevie Payne led Dexter with 22 points.

Sikeston will be back in action on Thursday when they host Twin Rivers.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Scott-Miss Tournament

BENTON -- The boys Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament will begin tonight at Kelly High School with two varsity games and one junior varsity game.

In varsity action tonight, third seed Scott City takes on six seed East Prairie at 6:30 p.m. while four seed Chaffee and five seed Delta will match-up at 8 p.m. Chaffee's third seeded junior varsity will start the night off at 5 p.m. when they take on six seeded East Prairie.

First round action will conclude on Wednesday night with two junior varsity games and one varsity game. In JV action, Scott City (2) will take on Kelly (7) at 5 p.m. followed by Oran (4) and Delta (5) at 6:30 p.m. The Oran varsity, seeded second, will play seventh seeded Kelly at 8 p.m. to conclude the first round.

Semifinal action for both varsity and junior varsity will be played on Thursday with the finals set for Friday night. Scott County Central received the top seed in both varsity and junior varsity.

Caruthersville 76, Portageville 71

CARUTHERSVILLE -- The Caruthersville Tigers won a Bootheel Conference game, pulling out a 76-71 win over Portageville in a physical contest.

Caruthersville improves to 11-3 with the win while Portageville falls to 8-5. No further information from the game was available at press time.

Portageville will be back in action tonight when they travel to Senath-Hornersville.
