Chaffee girls win first of season; boys top Greenville 88-37

GREENVILLE -- The Chaffee Red Devils won their first round game of the Mississippi Valley Conference Tournament on Monday by defeating Greenville, 88-37.

Blake Senciboy and Jordan Yahn combined for 44 points as Chaffee raced out to a 26-9 advantage after the first quarter. The Red Devils sat with a comfortable 47-15 lead at the half.

The second-seeded Red Devils (10-8) will face the No. 3 seed Zalma in the semifinals.

Zalma defeated Marquand 89-34 on Monday as well, while No. 4 Oak Ridge took care of the fifth-seed Meadow Heights Panthers, 57-45.

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Lady Devils received their first win of the season on Monday as they upset the visiting Oran Lady Eagles, 38-37.

Oran (9-7), who have lost their last three games, led the Lady Devils 25-22 after three quarters of play, but Chaffee's Randi Wiley hit the game-winning shot in the closing seconds.

Adrienne Eichhorn and Ellie Sigman scored 14 and 11 points respectively to break the Lady Devils' 11-game losing streak that they opened the season with.

Oran's Cheyanne King led the Lady Eagles with 17.

EAST PRAIRIE -- Stacey Heisserer and Katie Rhymer led the Scott City Lady Rams (14-2) with 14 points apiece as they defeated the East Prairie Lady Eagles 59-33 on Monday.

De Soto Tournament

DESOTO -- The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team finished fourth at the Desoto Wrestling Invitational over the weekend.

Five Sikeston wrestlers finished in the top three during the event as Blake Angle (8-0) won his 108th match of his career in the 112-pound division.

Dustin Wells (7-1) and Greg Smith (7-1) each finished second in the 145 and 160-pound divisions as Cody Middleton (5-3) and Jacob Stinnett (5-3) both ended in third place.
