NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central softball team swept a doubleheader on Thursday, defeating Bernie (10-1) and Meadow Heights (13-2).
Senior pitcher Kelly Robey earned the win in both games, striking out 13 and allowing just one run on two hits in five innings against Bernie. In the second game, Robey didn't allow a hit and only walk in four innings, striking out 11.
Michaela Townsend pitched the final two innings against Bernie and the final inning against Meadow Heights.
Against Bernie, Dallas Campbell and Anna Manley were each 3-for-3 while Robey was 3-for-4 with two doubles and Merideth Stanley was 2-for-4 with a double.
Robey finished 2-for-2 with two doubles against Meadow Heights as Nikki Martin finished 2-for-3 with a double. Mary Clara Hayes was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple while Katie Rausch also finished 2-for-3.
NMCC is now 13-0 and will travel to Holcomb on Monday.

WARDELL -- The Risco Tigers improved to 9-7 with a 14-4 win over North Pemiscot in the first round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament on Thursday.
"It was a good way to start the tournament," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "I'm just glad to finally get the tournament going. I want to thank the coaches at North Pemiscot for working so hard to get the field ready."
The fourth seeded Tigers jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead after one and plated two more runs in the second and four in the third to give themselves a comfortable lead.
Caleb McCord was 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBIs to lead Risco while Luke Bixler earned the win on the mound.
Risco will take on top seeded Cooter at noon today with the other semifinal game between Holcomb and Campbell scheduled for 2 p.m. The winner of the two games will play for the championship at 4 p.m.
