SIKESTON - Boyd Pollhamus isn't sure Sikeston residents know what a good thing they've got.

He describes the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo as the Indy 500 or the Super Bowl.

"This is very prestigious rodeo," he said. "Some people never know what goes on in their own backyard or they take it for granted. People need to know this Rodeo has an immense reputation."

From his view, atop his horse announcing some of the nation's top rodeos, Pollhamus has seen a lot of rodeos and its participants. In his first year as the announcer at Sikeston, he said the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo lives up to its reputation.
