SIKESTON -- Performing in front of a packed arena, contestants in Saturday night's finale of the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo put up some of the best numbers at this year's event.

Most notable for local fans was Sikeston native Ty Ferrell's performance in the team roping competition. Ferrell, along with partner Brant Spurgin, completed their run in six seconds flat to easily lead all challengers on the night.

With a time of 7.4 second, Troy Kitchener and Chad Mathes took second place on the night while Kevin Daniel and Chase Trayan's time of 9.9 seconds was good for third.

In bull riding, Chance Smart and Beau Schroeder both earned an 85 on their respective rides to tie for the lead. Third place was Logan Knibbs, who came away with an 83.

Barrel racing claimed one of the night's closest competitions as Tammy Bruso's time of 16.71 barely beat out of Wendy Culberson's run of 16.79 for the to spot. Not far behind Twyla Kite's time of 16.87 put her in third.

With a time of 8.2 seconds, Michael Otaro led the tie down roping event. He was followed by Stetson Aldridge and Jeremiah Peek who ran runs of 9.0 and 10.6 seconds respectively.

Troy Crowser led the pack in saddle bronc riding with a of 82-point ride to best Brad Rudolf and Cody Wright, who each scored 80 to tie for second place.

Beating out second place finisher Jon Ragatz by one-tenth of a second, Adam Strahan's run of 4.4 seconds was tops on the night in the steer wrestling competition. Third place was Josh Peek with a time of 5.9 seconds.

In bareback riding, Caine Riddle's 90-point ride not only won him the night, but was the best ride of this year's Rodeo. Matt bright's score of 82 was second place on Saturday while Will Lowe's score of 80 out him in third.

With this year's Rodeo festivities now at a close, a few locals remained near the top of the overall leader board. That includes Ferrell and partner Spurgin in team roping as the aggregate time 11.9 seconds for their two runs was good for third place.

Another Sikeston native, Carrie Thomas, earned ninth place in barrel racing thanks to her 16.61 second run on Tuesday.

Ty Atchison, who is from Jackson, tied for second overall in saddle bronc riding with a 82-point ride.
