Kelly 11, Delta 1

DELTA -- Picking up their third straight win to start the season, the Kelly Lady Hawks defeated the Delta Lady Bobcats 11-1 on Tuesday after six innings on the mercy rule.

"The girls did an outstanding job of putting the ball in play," Kelly coach Rhonda Ratledge said. "We're going to have to see Delta again in the Notre Dame Tournament later this week so it's nice to pick up this win."

Jumping out to an early 4-1 lead after the first inning, the Lady Hawks proceeded to put up a run each in the second and third before orchestrating another four-runs in the fourth.

The capper on the game came in the top of the sixth when, already up 10-1, Kelly scored one final run to put the run-rule in effect.

Picking up the win, Kristy Brucker went all six frames in the circle for the Lady Hawks, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out two.

At the plate, Stephanie Worth led the way, going 3 for 4 with a pair of triples. Emily Grojean, Jade Rampley and Sam Ratledge had two hits apiece, including a double by by both Rampley and a home run by Ratledge.

Sydney Vinyard contributed a double.

Next up, Kelly will participate in the Notre Dame Softball Tournament starting Thursday in Cape Girardeau.
