DEXTER -- Kitty Welch, 90, died Nov. 27, 2011, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter.

Born April 19, 1921, at Brownsville, Tenn., daughter of the late Carey Ward and Ira Worrell Ward, she was a nurse for 51 years working in Jewish Hospital, City Hospital and Delmar Gardens Residential Care in St. Louis and had worked in the Dexter Convalescent Nursing Center. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter and a former member of a Women's Missionary Quartet singing group.

On Nov. 8, 1983, she married Woodrow Welch who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Mack Spitzmiller and Ronnie Welch, and one brother, Bob Ward.

Survivors include: two brothers, Fred "Buddy" Ward and Roy Ward of Dexter; three sisters, Katherine Williams of Dexter, Joy Oliver of Arnold and Katy Scism of St. Louis; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.

Burial will follow at the Gravel Hill Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
